MK7 / 7.5 GTI & Golf R Center Hood Vent

This product is powder coated to order. We stock these parts raw/uncoated. Please allow a 4-6 business day lead time before shipping for any powder coated color.

The CJM Industries hood vents feature a 2 piece design that sandwiches the hood to keep it rigid. They are constructed out of USA made, laser cut 5052 Aluminum. A cutting/drilling template for the hood is included with all orders. 

This center vent has a few key features designed specifically for MQB MK7 Golf variant vehicles. Sealed hood vent ducting is not possible in these tight engine bays with an OEM location intercooler, radiator and condenser, therefore we followed all of the best practices we could to keep the efficiency of this vent as high as possible. 

• This vent is placed in the low pressure area (blue) on the leading edge of the hood to take advantage of the pressure differential. This aids in heat evacuation as the higher pressure air (purple) is forced through the cooling stack at the front of the car (see pressure map images). 

• The vent is sized to be 120%+ larger than the inlet size on the bumper, a common ratio used in motorsport cooling design. 
• The vent fins are shaped to minimize drag, standing only slightly proud of the hood surface, and a stepped shape promotes air flow outward towards the side mirrors, instead of over the windshield.
• The vent is shaped to fit within the main structure of the hood. This keeps the hood rigid. Our two piece design clamps around the thin sheet metal to further keep it stiff in the cut area. 

We are providing this information for reference only. We cannot guarantee this will solve your overheating problems.  Front aero, cooling core upgrades, cooling stack seals, oil coolers in front of the stack, bent condenser fins etc can affect the efficiency of this vent.

Rain trays are also available if you are in an area that has frequent rain or snow. They collect the water and drain it to the front center edge of the engine bay. The rain tray can quickly be removed with four wing nuts at the track. If you are using an open intake we strongly suggest installing a filterwears cover; or something similar as a safeguard against water getting sucked into the intake. 

The vents are available in raw aluminum or powder coated. Please note that uncoated parts will be deburred and lightly brushed, but may still have minor surface knicks from the cutting process.

The hardware is silver flanged button head stainless steel. The fins are shipped pre-bent for installation.
